Prince Harry recently spoke openly about his recreational use of psychedelics.

The Duke of Sussex, 38, revealed in an online chat with trauma expert Gabor Maté on Saturday that drugs have helped him deal with his past traumas.

“It was the cleaning of the windshield, the removal of the filters of life – those layers of filters – it took everything away from me and gave me a feeling of relaxation, relief, comfort, a lightness that I managed to hold back for a period of time,” he shared.

“I started doing it recreationally and then I started realizing how good it was for me,” Harry added.

“I would say it’s one of the fundamental things in my life that has changed me and helped me deal with the traumas and pains of the past.”

Meghan Markle’s husband recently admitted to taking other drugs – like cocaine and marijuana – as a teenager in his explosive book, ‘Spare’, which was published in January.

In the memoir, the royal recalled how the British tabloids portrayed his father, King Charles III, as a ‘harassed single father dealing with a child on drugs’ when Harry was 17.

However, the duke confessed he was “of course… taking cocaine at that time”.

The father-of-two wrote that he was first offered the drugs ‘in someone’s country house, during a weekend filming’.

“I was offered a line, and I’ve done a few more since,” Harry previously revealed, calling the drug use “not much fun.”

The military pilot said that while coke didn’t “make him particularly happy”, it “made him feel different”, which he said was his “main purpose”.

Harry also wrote that he tried magic mushrooms while attending a party at Courtney Cox’s. At the time, the Invictus Games founder claimed he was told the ‘Scream’ actress was “on a trip, at work” and he didn’t mind if he stayed at her house.

To his surprise, Cox showed up and invited some friends over for a meeting, at which Harry said he discovered a box of “mushroom and black diamond chocolates”.

“My mate and I caught several, wolfed them down, washed them down with tequila,” Harry wrote, before recounting his hallucinations, which included a trash can turning into a head.

“I pressed the pedal and the head opened its mouth. A huge open smile. I laughed,” he added.

A month after the memoir was published, Cox revealed that she was not the one who supplied the prince with the psychedelics.

“I’m not saying there were mushrooms!” the 58-year-old “Friends” alum told Variety in an interview published Feb. 27. “I certainly didn’t distribute them.”
