Michael J. Fox has found himself a new furry friend, and fans are saying the pup looks like the dog from the Back to the Future movies.
The 61-year-old actor shared a post on his Instagram on Monday of himself cuddled up with the adorable dog, who he named Blue.
The Back to the Future star captioned her post, “Hey Blue, welcome to your new home!”
Fans of the actor took to the comments to share their thoughts on the new addition to the Fox family and compare the dog’s appearance to that of Dr. Emmet Brown’s dog in the Back to the Future trilogy.
The dog featured in the trilogy bore the famous name Einstein and was a similar breed to Fox’s new dog.
People wrote comments such as “Einstein came back using the time machine” and “Aww, he looks like a baby Einstein!” »
The movies’ dog was an adult sheepdog who joined Fox’s Marty McFly and Doc Brown, played by Christopher Lloyd, on their adventures back in time.
Several A-list stars also made an appearance in the Teen Wolf actor’s comments section.
Julianne Moore wrote: ‘Oh my God!! So cute,” and added a smiley face with hearts around emoji.
Dirty Dancing actress Jennifer Gray commented using several emojis, including pink hearts, dog faces and stuck out tongues.
Fox has always been a dog lover, having mourned the loss of his former dog, Gus, in April 2021.
He wrote in the caption of an Instagram post announcing the passing of his beloved puppies: “Gus – great dog and loyal friend, you will be missed.”
The actor had repeatedly mentioned what a “wonderful dog” Gus had been over the years.
Gus had been a devoted companion for Fox in his ongoing battle with Parkinson’s disease.
“I didn’t save Gus,” the actor wrote in his 2020 memoir. “You could say he saved me, but he would be too modest to make that claim.”
In a November 2020 interview, Fox opened up about how Gus impacted his life on CBS’s primetime special, The Pet Project.
“When you have a chronic illness, sometimes your instinct is to isolate yourself and make your world as small as possible so you don’t have much to deal with, but a dog will open you up,” he explained. .
The Family Ties alum recently reunited with his Back to the Future co-stars at a fan convention in Portland, Oregon.
Lea Thompson, who played Lorraine in the franchise’s first two films, and Tom Wilson, who played Biff Tannen in the trilogy, were joined by Fox and Lloyd.
Thompson shared a heartwarming selfie with her fellow cast members and several videos during the event.
The Switched at Birth alum captioned his post, “Wow honestly had the best time today with my family #bttf.”
Fox also took to his Instagram Stories to show off a group photo with his arms around his fellow cast members.
He wrote: ‘Love being at these FanExpo events and seeing some of my favorite people like Lea, Tom, Chris and all of you #bttf bosses. Heavy.’
