Courteney Cox says she was unable to recognize how far she had gone with fillers during her efforts to turn back time as a young woman.
The Friends actress, 58, described the vicious cycle she went through to maintain her looks during a podcast appearance Gloss Angeles and expressed regret for having the procedure done.
Although Cox initially believed she looked fine after receiving the fillers, she didn’t realize just how “off” she really was until much later.
“I thought I was getting old when I was very young,” she began. ‘It’s just a disappointment, a waste of time; it’s a domino effect it’s like you don’t realize you look a little off so you keep doing more because you look normal and you look in the mirror and you’re like, ‘Oh, that looks good,’ she said.
‘You don’t realize what it looks like to the outside person and you’re doing too many fillers and then having to take them out which thank goodness they’re removable but I think I messed up a lot and now, luckily I can, I was able to reverse most of that, and now I’m actually just older.
Courteney says she’s in disbelief whenever she finds old photos of herself taken in her time.
“I look at pictures of myself when I thought I looked good, and I can’t believe it,” she admitted.
She also said, “My publicist wouldn’t let me post this but I wanted to say, like a before or what I was and what I am and then the caption would be ‘oh that’s what my was talking about. friend, “because when someone talks to you (about fillers) and says, ‘baby, I don’t know,’ then you’re like, ‘what? “I didn’t do anything here and nothing there” and you don’t realize it probably floated.
Courteney has been candid about how her efforts to stay young have actually backfired.
Last year, the actress admitted she first tried to fight the age with various ‘injections’ and other treatments, but eventually realized she had gone ‘crazy’ and felt she was now trying to age gracefully.
She told Sunday Times Style magazine: “There was a time when you were like, ‘Oh, I’m changing. I look older. “And I tried to chase that (the youth) away for years.
“And I didn’t realize that, oh shit, I look really, really weird with injections and I do stuff on my face that I would never do now.”
Reflecting on whether to post a photo on Instagram of those days versus now, she added, “I would say, ‘The day you realize what your friends were talking about.
“Because people would talk about me, I think. But there was a time when I was like, ‘I have to stop. This is just crazy.’
Although she’s given up on cosmetic procedures, Courteney loves trying new products because she’s still under “intense” pressure to look good.
She said: “The scrutiny is intense, but I don’t know if it could be more intense than I’m putting on myself.”
“I’m a fucking product. I will try anything.
The former Friends star also said she “can’t believe” her next birthday will be 60.
She said, ‘Oh my God, that’s so hard to hear or say. I can not believe it. There’s nothing wrong with turning 60, I can’t believe it. Time passes so fast.
“There’s no doubt that I’m more grounded, I’ve learned so much in my life – what to appreciate, what to try for more and what to give up.”
