So much for their happy ending. April Lavigne and engaged sound mode separated after more than two years together, We Weekly can confirm.
“Avril and Mod Sun have been on and off for the past two months, but are no longer together as a couple,” a source shares exclusively with We. Mod Sun’s rep, however, claims the pair were still together a few days ago. “They were together and engaged 3 days ago when Mod went on tour, so if anything has changed that’s news for him,” his rep said. We in a statement.
Speculation that the duo had called it quits began after the ‘Complicated’ singer, 38, was seen having dinner with Tyga at Nobu in Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 19, according to photos obtained by TMZ. However, the insider shares that despite breaking up with the “1970s” artist, 35, Lavigne and the rapper, 33, are strictly platonic.
“Avril and Tyga are really friends and nothing more,” the source explains. “There were absolutely no third parties involved in the split.”
Despite the ongoing drama, however, a rep for Mod Sun claims the pair were still together a few days ago.
“They were together and engaged 3 days ago when Mod went on tour, so if anything has changed, that’s news for him,” the rep said. We in a report.
We first confirmed that the Canada native and the “Karma” artist were “seeing” each other in December 2020 after the pair established a connection through music. Mod Sun later revealed that he was introduced to Lavigne through their mutual friend. Machine Gun Kelly.
“We bonded just talking about music,” the drummer said Metro in February 2021, noting how stunned he was when Lavigne showed interest in his work. “It’s even hard to say because it’s Avril Lavigne’s whore, but she said to me: ‘I really like your song, I really like your music’, and she said to me: ‘Send me some other stuff you’re working on.'”

Sometimes as an artist you don’t know really,” he explained. “It’s really hard to be, like, ‘This is the song that’s gonna do it, or this is the song that’s gonna blow up,’ you might be thinking in your head. that you have the idea of what will work every time, but most of the time you have no idea what you are doing when you do it.
After their time in the studio together, Mod Sun got the singer’s name “Sk8er Boi” tattooed on his neck, and the duo have been spotted several times with Kelly, 32, and his fiancée. Megan Fox.
Lavigne, for her part, was initially hesitant to jump headfirst into a romance with the Minnesota native after her past relationships failed. She was previously married to the leader of Sum 41 Deryck Whibley from 2006 to 2010. In 2013, she remarried with Chad Kroeger but they separated two years later. (Mod Sun, for his part, dated Bella Thorne from 2017 to 2019.)
“I feel like I’ve had the wind in my sails again and again. I’ve had it up to here. I have to take care of myself right away.’ So I bought a house, and I wasn’t expecting a guy to start a future with. I was like, ‘I’m doing this for me now. The “With You” crooner’s efforts to stay away ultimately failed, and the couple got engaged in April 2022.

Mod Sun, meanwhile, gushed about how he knew his then-fiancée was The One as soon as they met. “Together forever until our days are over. I had a dream where I was proposing in Paris,” he captioned a photo of the duo via Instagram. “You are too beautiful for my words to describe. I grabbed your hand + took one last breath… I said ‘will you marry me?’ + she said “yes”. I love you April ❤️.”
